Your Child's First Visit
The first visit to the office is uncomplicated and enjoyable.
Generally we accomplish the following:
1. Orientation to the office and introduction to dental procedures
and instruments. The information is presented in a manner
consistent with the child's age.
2. A complete oral examination.
3. Diagnostic X-rays, if needed, to detect cavities, jaw abnormalities,
cysts, tumors, and crooked or missing teeth.
4. Thorough cleaning and fluoride treatment.
5. Consultation with parents.
If the child is apprehensive or needs more time to get accustomed to the office environment, the doctor may recommend a second visit for the cleaning and fluoride treatment. This gives the child another positive, non-threatening visit. Later the child can will be more comfortable with regular visits or emergency treatment.
Sometimes children under three or children with special problems may be accompanied by their parent to the examining room. However, it has been our experience that we can accomplish our objectives more satisfactorily if the parent does not accompany the child into the examining room. We find that the children are more relaxed in our open design arrangement, even when the parents are not present during treatment.
Appointments
We respect our patient's and parents' time and make every effort
to remain on schedule. We strive to complete treatment in as
few visits as possible. Our office makes every effort to schedule
appointments to fit your needs. If you have special problems
regarding appointments, please let us know. If you are not able
to keep a scheduled appointment, please allow us at least 24
hours notice so that someone else may use that time. Thank you
in advance for your help.
Preventive Dentistry
Most dental are avoidable. We can provide you with the means
and the knowledge to avert dental disease. However, parents
play a very big part in our preventive program. Your interest,
understanding and motivation at home will be a factor in controlling
dental disease for your child. We also offer the modern techniques
of interceptive and preventive orthodontics and orthopedics.
By taking advantage of your child's early development patterns,
timely treatment can prevent or reduce many bite problems. Close
observation from an early age allows us to provide optimum treatment
at the proper stage of growth and development. Such conservative
treatment is less extensive and less costly than correcting
a problem after it has developed.
Emergency Service
Dental emergencies usually occur after regular office hours!
For that reason, Pedodontics, P.C. maintains a 24-hour emergency
service program for our patients and their parents. We are
available to you anytime on the event of accident, dental
pain or infection. You are encouraged to contact us after
office hours by calling the doctor at home or dialing our
24-hour answering service at
449-1852
Financial Services
It is our policy to receive payment as treatment progresses.
At the consultation visit we can arrange a payment schedule
to fit your needs. For initial examinations, limited treatment
and periodic check-ups, payment is expected upon completion
of the appointment. If you have any questions concerning our
fees or methods of payment, please let us know.
Insurance
As a courtesy to our patients, we will complete and file insurance
forms at out expense. However, since you receive our professional
services, you are responsible to us for payment. We expect regular
monthly payments, even though you may have insurance pending.
There is a variety of dental insurance coverage. Nearly every
dental plan limits the amount of money the insurance company
will pay for covered services. Coverage is rarely 100%. Please
is remember that we do not determine the benefits under your
policy. Therefore, if you have any questions about what your
plan will pay as a covered charge, please refer these questions
to your insurance carrier or to your employer.
